More ancient viruses lurk in our DNA than we thought: 19 new pieces of non-human DNA left by viruses that first infected our ancestors 100k years ago have been found, lurking between our own genes. One stretch of DNA, found in 50 people, contains an intact, full genetic recipe for an entire virus.
